**Our CanSkate Coordinator will indicate which event(s) your skater is eligible for.


Pricing & Registration

Each event is $50 with the exception of the Assessment Event which is only open
to Pre-StarSkate Academy skaters and is $25 per assessment.

 

Refunds will not be issued for any of the events.


The closing date for registration is November 27, 2023 at midnight and late entries will not be accepted.

MFSC reserves the right to limit the number of skaters/entries.

 

Dress Code 

Skaters are expected to wear a skating dress (female) or dress pants/shirt (male) for this event. If you do not have one, MFSC has a collection of lightly used skating attire in the Board office that may be purchased for this event.


Warm up 

The Skate Canada standardized warm up time of 3 minutes will be utilized for this event.

 

Awards

- Each skater will receive a report card with their assessment (Gold, Silver, or
Bronze) for their performance.
- All skaters will receive a medal in their gift bag which can be picked up at the registration table.
- Skaters in the assessment category will receive an assessment sheet with their outcome (Pass,
Pass With Honors or Retry) upon completion of the assessment.

Package A

- Forward outside edges
- Forward inside edges
- Forward figure 8 crossovers
- Forward spiral OR lunge (flight dependent)*
- Forward power jump OR waltz jump (flight dependent)*
- 1 foot OR 2 foot spin (flight dependent)*
- Creative expression
* Flight dependent = skills will be selected for the level of the skaters in each flight

- Forward/Backward crossovers on the circle
- Forward spiral circles
- Waltz Jump
- 1 foot spin
- Forward 3 turn step sequence
- Creative expression

Package C

- Eligible skaters will assess their Star 1 Dance
- Must have CanSkate Coordinators permission to register in this event

Dance Event

Package D

- Dutch Waltz, Canasta, or Baby Blues will be selected for the given flight of skaters
- Dance will be picked based on the level of the skaters in each respective flight

- Forward/Backward crossovers on circle
- Forward spiral circles
- 1 foot spin
- Backspin
- Waltz jump
- Salchow
- Toe Loop
- **Creative Expression

**Creative Expression- Once skaters have completed the required elements, all skaters in the flight will take the ice at the same time. A piece of music will be played and the skater must skate to the music. Skaters will be assessed on their creative expression. The skater will have the chance to skate to the same piece of music twice. Music duration is approximately 30 seconds long.

- Forward/Backward perimeter stroking
- Spiral Sequence
- Field Movement of Choice (Y-spiral, backwards 1 foot sit glide, Ina Bauer or spread eagle)
- Waltz Jump + Toe Loop combination

- Flip or Lutz
- Camel or Sit Spin
- Backspin
